The release of the new iPhone has annoyed me. Not because of anything any particular company did or did not do (in fact, I'm getting an iPhone 6 Plus to replace my aging iPhone 5), but because of people's reactions. My entire timeline was filled with people bitching about how much better Android is and how these features came to Android years ago. Blah, blah, blah. Who gives a shit? If you like Android, buy it. Use it. Enjoy it. That's what it's for. If you like iPhone, get it. Use it. Love it all you want. Same goes for Windows Phone, BlackBerry, Toyota Camry, etc. Automatic, manual, whatever. Who cares? If you like it and you aren't hurting or endangering someone else, what's the big deal? I don't get why people can't just have an opinion. It seems like nowadays having one isn't enough. You have to convince others of its superiority every chance you get.
I've used Android and I've used iPhone. I like them both. I stick with iPhone simply because it integrates well with my music collection and my tablet and my wife's Mac. Not because of any blind loyalty to Apple. They suck just as much as all other big companies.
Rant over, I guess. Have a car pic. It's my first car. I miss it - even though it broke down. A lot.

It's an eternal pissing match not worth listening to on either account. I used to care because I worked for Verizon so I needed to have the info in order to sell to either side but now I couldn't possible care less about either and quite frankly I'm glad I've distanced myself.
If my input were *that* important I'd be on Apple or Samsung or HTC's payroll banking it. But I'm not. So there.

Hooray for former VZW employees! I worked in a corporate store for a few years straight out of college. I think the coolest phone we had when I left was the LG Voyager.

I will say, ultimately you are right. I think it is way more complicated though.
Over ten years ago I supported an Apple network (G4s and eMacs) and let me just say it was horrible. I loved the machines but the way Apple treats customers is disgusting.
Aside from that, Apple has always been an innovate and then stagnate company. Watching Apple fanboys and girls drool over last years Android tech and claim is is revolutionary is annoying, and I am very much a fact driven person so I tend to have to set the record right.
Me, I think the best platform right now is Windows Phone. It is just the best rounded OS period. The problem is the app-gap. Although it is closing fast (I have released two so far ;))
The most useful is Android. It is well established and has a ton of healthy competition both internally (Samsung, HTC, LG, etc.) and externally (Windows, Apple, Blackberry) and it keeps up or exceeds most of the time. The first 3 versions were a little rough, but it has really cleaned up.
Apple is for people who are a) Invested in Apple i. emotionally ii. financially iii. Educationally and refuse to learn something new. It does 80% of what Android does in a very proprietary way. Want to make apps? Buy a Mac, learn Objective-C (No one used that until Apple brought it back from the dead!) Want music, use iTunes or the App Store, you can't mount the device and sync through Finder or Explorer like Android or WP...
In the end, buy what works for you! I have a coworker that bought a 1st gen iPhone when they came out, sank hundreds of dollars in music and apps and for that reason only keeps an iPhone personally even though he prefers his Android for most things and wants to try WP... Makes no sense to me, but it does to him so... good for him.

My wife has an Android, I have an iPhone. She likes hers, I like mine. I'm used to the functionality of the device and can't get used to her phone, and vice versa.
It's not that I LOVE the iPhone; it's just that I don't care enough to completely learn a new system. Does it email? Does it text? Does it call people? I'll take it.

Yep, that was A) iii.
Some people just aren't willing to relearn their phone. Oddly enough, the iPhone way of getting around drives me nuts. My Android and Windows Phone both feel intuitive to me, but when ever I must use or work with an iPhone I go bonkers because it just doesn't make sense to me, and the one button just gets to me. All that, and for a company I dislike strongly I have no interest in learning it any more at this time.
